Frequently Asked Questions

Why waxing and why should I stay consistent?
Waxing removes hair directly from the root, providing weeks of smooth skin while simultaneously weakening the hair follicle over time. Staying consistent is the key to achieving thinner hair regrowth, less pain during appointments, and long-lasting results.
Are you accepting first-time clients, and is it safe?
Always and absolutely! First-time waxes may take a little longer, so proper care and technique are required. Everything will be explained so you feel comfortable throughout the service.
How long should my hair be before waxing?
Hair should be at least ÂĽ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice). This allows the wax to grip the hair for the best results.
Does waxing hurt?
Waxing is uncomfortable, but at Root., most clients say it’s not as bad as they expected. Think of it like a quick pinch compared to getting a piercing or tattoo. However, everyone’s pain tolerance is different, and professional technique helps keep the process as quick, manageable, and pain-free as possible. You're in great hands.
What does removing hair from the root mean?
Well, specifically, waxing removes hair directly from the root (epilation). With consistent waxing every 3–6 weeks, hair often grows back finer, softer, and more sparse over time.
What type of wax is used?
Both soft and hard wax are used, with ingredients formulated for sensitive skin and formulated in accordance with professional guidelines from leading wax brands.
What is the difference between hard and soft wax?
• Hard wax: sticks to the hair, not the skin—gentler, great for sensitive areas like the bikini or underarms.
• Soft wax: sticks to both hair and skin—better for larger areas like legs or arms —and is usually removed with strips.
How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?
For the best results:
• No tanning, intense workouts, or hot showers 24 hours before/after waxing.
• Avoid caffeine the day of service for reduced sensitivity.
• Gently exfoliate 24–48 hours before your appointment
• Arrive with clean skin (no lotions or oils on the area)
• Avoid shaving between waxing appointments
Should I trim before my Brazilian wax?
If your hair is longer than ½ inch, a light trim can make the service more comfortable. If you're unsure, don’t worry — trimming can be done during your appointment if needed.
Can I get waxed while on my period or pregnant?
Yes, waxing during your cycle is completely fine—wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup for Brazilian services, as you may be more sensitive. Pregnancy is also safe for waxing, though your skin may be more sensitive, so let your esthetician know beforehand.
What should I avoid after waxing?
Your skin may be sensitive after waxing.
For 24 hours, avoid:
• Intense workouts or heavy sweating
• Hot baths, saunas, or steam rooms
• Sun exposure or tanning
• Tight clothing that may cause friction
When can I exfoliate after waxing?
Wait 48 hours after your wax before exfoliating. Regular gentle exfoliation afterward helps prevent ingrown hairs.
How long will my wax last?
Most clients enjoy smooth skin for 3–6 weeks, sometimes even longer, depending on their hair growth cycle and consistency with appointments.
